“Whether you’re calling to tell me something important.”
I laughed through my tears.
“I found it.”
He went quiet.
“¿Encontré qué?”
“El café de mi madre”.
Menos de una hora después, llegó.
Estaba parado afuera cuando su auto se detuvo.
He stepped onto the sidewalk and looked at the building.
“Chloe,” he said slowly, “this place needs a lot of work.”
“Lo sé”.
“The kitchen alone will cost money.”
“Lo sé”.
“¿Y tienes un plan?”
Levanté una carpeta.
“Veintitrés páginas”.
He raised his eyebrows.
“Twenty-three?”
“Budget, suppliers, staffing, projected revenue, permits, renovation estimates, everything.”
He looked impressed.
“¿Puedo ver?”
I handed him the folder.
He read it carefully while I waited.
Finalmente, levantó la vista.
“You’ve done your homework.”
Sonreí.
“Every night for months.”
“And the financing?”
“Tengo ahorros. El regalo que me diste. Y un préstamo para pequeñas empresas que estoy solicitando. No estoy asumiendo más de lo que puedo manejar”.
